Handicap calculations
1 |
Starting handicaps will
be determined 1 of 3 ways: |
a. Established player uses handicap from the
most recent year played in league. |
b. New players can use their USGA handicap if
they have one. |
c. New players can give a "target "
score. A "target" score
would be an average 9 hole |
score. A new golfer cannot shoot better than 3
strokes lower than their "target" score. |
If they do, strokes will
be added back to their score card from the highest handicap hole |
back until their score
meets the 3 stroke limit. Actual score
will be used to calculate |
the next weeks handicaps. |
2 |
Handicaps will be
calculated using the best 4 out of the last 6 scores. |

STROKE REDUCTION (Hole Scores) |
Stroke reduction is used
to calculate an "Adjusted Gross Score" (AGS) for handicapping |
purposes. Handicaps are NOT based of a golfers
"Gross Score" rather they are based on |
a golfer's
"AGS". The purpose of an
"AGS" is so one or two bad holes do not substantially |
raise a golfers
handicap. A score for any hole is
reduced to a specific number of strokes |
over par as indicated
here. Stoke control has no effect on
how points are calculated. |
Points are determined
using "Gross Scores" not "Adjusted Gross Scores". |

New USGA - ELC Stoke
